Solvitur Ambulando – It Is Solved by Walking

7. February 2019

A picture is worth a thousand words. I let the pictures do the talking.

Day 1: Berlin – Burgos

Madrid Barajas Airport - the journey begins
Street fashion in Burgos - love this lady's purple outfit
An ordinary door handle in Burgos
Ant's view perspective from the Burgos cathedral

Day 2: Burgos – Hontanas

First sunrise on the Camino - going full speed ahead
The Camino goes up and then down, meanwhile a few playful clouds stare at me or I at them?!
The harvest is in full swing
Everyone is friendly and smiling, even the sunflowers
At the end of the very first day, tired but content - 32km are behind me
Nothing beats the view from the Hostel Juan de Yepes

Day 3: Hontanas – Itero de la Vega

A special moment in the quiet of the Arco de San Antón ruins
Oh Death! Oh Eternity! - a mysterious sign just after Castrojeriz
Once you find your path ...
My lucky 22
A strenuous, hot, midday climb up Alto de Mostelares totally worth the view
It's easy to make it difficult for yourself
Keep your hands open
It's time to find a place to stay for the night

Day 4: Itero de la Vega – Población de Campos (Albergue La Finca)

Started at 5am, walked in pitch-dark, rain, didn't see a soul for hours, got lost but still thankful for the most gorgeous sunrise
My reward in Fromista after walking some 8 extra km
Fromista
The summer of 2018 - hot and dry
Albergue La Finca - an oasis
Sweets
Albergue La Finca: I had a whole house on my own; this is the living room
My bed at Albergue La Finca

Day 5: Albergue La Finca – Calzadilla de la Cueza

Every way is Camino de Santiago
My most favourite time of the day - sunrise time!
I got long legs
Villalcázar de Sirga
Life is a Camino
Happy hair

Day 6: Calzadilla de la Cueza – Sahagún

The fields in gold and blue
Follow the yellow arrow
Moratinos Bodegas
On top of the Moratinos bodegas
Where is this journey taking me?
Wonderland trees

Day 7: Sahagún – Calzadilla de los Hermanillos

Sunflowers waking up
Down there the busy life goes on
A quiet village on the way
The lines meet in the perspective
The folks from Auberge Via Trajana filled my belly and my heart
Lucky 22
A detail in pink
Sunset under the stars

Day 8: Calzadilla de los Hermanillos – Puente Villarente

My dream house
"I feel pretty"
Love is all around
Happy, happy, happy
Water reaching critical levels
Plants
Plants
Plants

Day 9: Puente Villarente – La Virgen del Camino

The auberge in Puente Villarente
She and he
Leon in the background
First steps in Leon
May the water be light to you
Leon is proud
Lunch in Leon
The Camino continues

Day 10: La Virgen del Camino –  Villar de Mazarife

Good morning Camino!
Highway
A place where the time has stopped
Follow your heart
Delicious treats along the way
Together

Day 11: Villar de Mazarife – Villavante

Greed will not consume me as it has the world
Buen Camino!
Flowery carpet
Roman signpost
Molino Galochas - a hidden gem
Water under the mill
Play
Perus sapo game - an old Peruvian game

Day 12: Villavante – Astorga

At the doorstep of Molino Galochas
One last look at this house cared for with so much love
Hospital de Órbigo
The flower a friendly local gave me
La llave de la esencia es la presencia
Episcopal Palace in Astorga - last stop of the journey
