About Kate App – Who am I
I’m (2/3 way as of early-2021) on my path to financial independence. My 3 core values are Connection, Independence and Freedom.
I’m a professional with 16+ years in software development which gave me the means to travel the world and to make friends across the globe. My career took me places: Software developer, Product owner, Project manager, Team lead, Photographer, Blogger, and a Coach.
At the beginning of my 30s, I had a full-blown early mid-life crisis. I had reached all my goals. I had ticked all the boxes. But I wasn’t happy. That was not it.
I was desperate for answers. I went out and threw myself into the world: I literally jumped off a plane, jumped off bridges, I paused my comfortable job for a 6-month sabbatical, I traveled the world, walked the Camino de Santiago, I took an acting class, I meditated in silence for 10days at a Vipassana meditation retreat, just to name a few.
Only to discover – I had all the answers within. I could have saved myself all that time and went directly to Consciousness coaching. In 2016 I had my first coaching experience. It has opened so much for me, that I trained for 6 intense months and I became a coach myself.
Now I am available to guide you beyond your Comfort zone to find your own answers.
Why listen to me
I lead by example. In the 4 years since I started this blog, I have jumped in the deep waters.
Nevertheless, I encourage you to get your hands dirty and make your own experiences.
My numbers (since 2015)
- 101% net worth growth
- 42% saving rate
- 24% stock investment growth
My net worth is growing, and best of all – I am slowly figuring out what meaningful work means to me.
After experimenting with a 6-month sabbatical, and part-time work I realised – Financial independence is good but what do I do with all this free time ?! That’s how the Goal shifted from financial independence to creating a life I don’t need a vacation from.
In addition, I publish interviews with people who inspire me asking them about anything from their goals to their strategies and how they overcome obstacles on the way.
Some nice things people have said about my blog
I have inspired a lot of people to take a closer look at their finances. I can do the same for you!
Well done starting this blog, Kate! Beautiful and informative, I am looking very much forward to future articles. Thanks for the inspiration!
It’s fantastic to read about your learnings along the way and how you improved your approach!
It’s motivating to see your statistics like net worth grow – I should this as well (I only track my savings rate and measure my approximative net worth a few times per year)
Thanks for your courage, commitment, openness and transparency. All of which are actually Agile values.
You are truly an inspiration, Kate.
So happy to have read ur blog post; and such an inspiration on how to plan better my sabbatical. I’m planning on taking sometime off to think about life and my purpose here… i want to a life of making a difference- i want to figure out how!
